16-07-09 Iran's Nuclear Chief Resigns

The long-time head of Iran's atomic agency,who also served as vice president under President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,told state media Thursday he had resigned his two posts.The surprise announcement immediately raised speculation he quit,or was pushed,as part of the fallout from Iran's postelection unrest.Gholam Reza Aghazadeh is seen as an associate of Mir Hossein Mousavi,who has challenged the June 12 presidential election that authorities said Mr.Ahmadinejad won in a landslide.Mr.Aghazadeh submitted his resignation about three weeks ago,the Isna news agency reported him saying Thursday.The news agency gave no reason for his resignation
