03-06-10 Diplomatic envoy Laura Ling led by Bill Clinton

Laura Ling, the Current TV journalist who was rescued in dramatic fashion last summer after a diplomatic envoy led by Bill Clinton negotiated her release from North Korea, has come up with a way to thank the former President:she named her daughter after him.Li Jefferson Clayton was born last night at St.Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank,California, and is the first child for Ling and her husband,Iain Clayton.Li gets her first name from Ling’s sister and former co-host of The View,Lisa Ling. And the Jefferson is,of course, the middle name of the 42nd President.Ling told People that they chose to honor Clinton not only because of his role in negotiating her release, but because of all he has done since.“He has checked in on me several times to see how I’m doing and has been so concerned and caring,” Ling told People.“He’s such a wonderful human being.”
