18-09-10 American Couple Arrested For Leaking Nuclear Weapon Plans

Santa Fe,NM,United States (AHN) – Arrested and indicted this Saturday on 22 counts of “communicating classified nuclear weapons data” were 75 year old physicist, Dr. Robert Mascheroni,a naturalized U.S. citizen from Argentina ,and his American wife,67 year old Marjorie Roxby Mascheroni.According to the indictment,the couple passed on to an FBI agent,posing as a Venezuelan spy,nuclear weapons secrets.Officials say Dr.Mascheroni sent a 132 page coded paper,entitled “A Deterrence Program for Venezuela,” in exchange for $20,000 in cash and the promise of more money, nearly $800,000.The indictment stated that Dr.Mascheroni told the undercover agent that he could help Venezuela develop a nuclear bomb within 10 years and that under his program,the country would use a secret,underground nuclear reactor to make plutonium,a type of bomb fuel.Despite the arrest,the FBI is quick to clarify that they are not implicating or charging Venezuela of any wrong doing.If convicted,each of the accused faces life imprisonment.David Kris,the assistant attorney general for national security,said,“The conduct alleged in this indictment is serious and should serve as a warning to anyone who would consider compromising our nation’s nuclear secrets for profit.”
